We are thrilled to announce the release of Popis v5.5 โ our most significant update to date. This version is not just a functionality upgrade; it is a turning point that puts this asset inventory solution on the global map.
From full multilingual support to the official arrival on the Google Play Store โ version 5.5 brings the tools you need for professional, secure, and efficient asset tracking, no matter where you are.
1. We Speak Your Language: Popis Goes International ๐ธ๐ฎ ๐ฌ๐ง ๐ฉ๐ช ๐ญ๐ท
The biggest new feature of version 5.5 is full internationalization (i18n). We realize that many companies operate regionally or internationally, so we have removed language barriers.
The entire ecosystem โ from the Android application to web management โ is now available in 4 languages:
- Slovenian
- English
- German
- Croatian
How does it work?
- On the portal: The language is automatically saved to your user profile.
- On the mobile device: We added a new language selector (with flags) directly to the login screen. This allows different enumerators on the same device to use the app in their own language, regardless of the phone settings.
2. Officially on the Google Play Store ๐ฒ
We are proud to announce that the mobile application Popis – Asset Inventory is now officially verified and available on the Google Play store!
This is a big step for security and ease of distribution:
- Easy Updates: No more manual installation of APK files. Updates are automatic and secure.
- Security Verified: The app has passed Google’s strict security checks, ensuring the software is safe for use in business environments.
- Global Accessibility: You can easily install the app on all company phones and tablets with a single click.
3. Central System (Portal): Professional Transformation โก
The backend system at portal.popis.si has undergone a radical overhaul. We replaced the entire user interface (UX) with a professional, modern design that follows the latest guidelines for business applications.
The goal of the renovation was to create an environment that is not only beautiful but also allows for faster and more focused work with large amounts of data.
- Professional Look: Clean design, intuitive layout, and modern typography reduce eye strain during long-term work.
- Focus Mode: Expand the working table to full screen with one click. All superfluous menus retreat so you can focus 100% on editing data without distractions.
- Sticky Columns and Headers: When browsing long lists of assets, the table header and key columns (such as Asset Code) remain pinned to the edge of the screen. You will never get lost in a table again.
- Aurora Login: A new, modern login window with elegant animation that greets you at the start of work and immediately lets you know you are using a modern tool.
- Smart Menu: The side menu can now collapse into “icon mode”, gaining valuable screen space for data review while maintaining quick access to all functions.
4. Mobile App: Security and Flexibility (Android Update)
In addition to languages, we have made thorough changes “under the hood” of the mobile application for compliance with the latest Android standards (Android 14/15).
๐ก๏ธ Security and SAF (Storage Access Framework)
We have revamped the way files are handled. Due to strict security requirements of new Android systems, we have implemented SAF integration.
- What does this mean for you? When exporting or importing data (XML, backups), you now use a secure, system folder picker.
- Smart Naming: The system allows defining “prefix” filenames (e.g.,
inventory_2025_), which makes organizing archives easier.
๐ฑ Optimization for Tablets and Landscape Mode
Counting on tablets is now a pleasure. We have removed screen rotation restrictions.
